Usman Sadiq is the Founder and Chair of HOPE for Newcomers. As an education leader and entrepreneur, he has devoted his career to creating accessible, practical learning opportunities for adults and newcomers across Canada.
He provides strategic direction for all HOPE programs,
focusing on:
• English language learning
• Employment and career development
• Newcomer settlement support
• Community partnerships
Usman’s vision is rooted in helping newcomers build confidence, stability, and long-term success in Canada.
2. Sehr Usman
Registered Counsellor & Director
Sehr Usman is a Registered Counsellor and a Director on the Board of HOPE for Newcomers.
With extensive experience supporting immigrant families, women, youth, and community members, Sehr leads HOPE’s counselling and wellness initiatives.
She specializes in:
• newcomer mental health support
• family and settlement counselling
• trauma-informed practice
• emotional well-being and adjustment strategies
Her compassionate approach ensures newcomers receive culturally sensitive, judgment-free support as they navigate the challenges of building a new life in Canada.
Sehr also contributes to program design, community engagement, and long-term planning as part of the Board.
3. Dr. Mehran
Director
Dr. Mehran brings strong expertise in healthcare, community leadership, and newcomer advocacy. His experience working with diverse cultural and linguistic groups helps inform HOPE’s program development and quality assurance.
His contributions include:

• supporting health and wellness initiatives
• improving cultural competence across services
• community outreach and partnerships
